Take the Tauernautobahn (Tauern motorway) in the southerly direction to Bischofshofen, take the Gasteinertal exit, then Road No. 167 into the Gastein valley.

About 2 hours' drive from Innsbruck:
Motorway via Wörgl, Road No. 312 via St.Johann/Tirol to Lofer, road No. 311 via Zell am See to Lend, Road No. 167 to Gastein or motorway Kufstein - Salzburg - Villach, Gasteinertal exit, Road No. 167 into the Gastein valley.

Coming from the south, drive to Mallnitz via Villach, Möllbrücke and Obervellach and take the train-car ferry to Gastein.
